Good point...

Who we are in the dark IS who we are...

—from a comment on angie's blog....

PRAYER REQUEST...

...as a form of introduction...

As few (if any) of you know, I have 3 half-brothers from my step-dad's side...(there's also 3 half-sisters, too)...step dad was quite prolific--not with the same woman--

Anyway....

the oldest half bro is named neal. about 12 years ago, he was living in florida, managing the parts dept. of a large ford dealer in ocala. as he was on the freeway, he apparently was driving at quite a good clip, and was head-on'ed by another car. he wasn't wearing his seat belt, so was ejected from the truck, landing on his head. as the story goes, he left about 10% of his brain on the pavement before he was airlifted to the hospital where he was not expected to survive. miraculously, he did. the ensuing few years were relatively normal. however, the last few have not been good. he's had seizures, blood clots, requiring lots of HEAVY doses of blood thinners, and times of 'passing out', etc.

fast forward to friday, he was going to a burger joint with some friends, and had one of the afformentioned 'pass out' episodes. prior to hitting the ground, apparently he hit his head on a stucco wall. not good for someone with a history of serious brain injury, or someone on blood thinners. even worse for someone experiencing both. currently (last i heard), he wasnt doing well--was in an induced coma to lessen the possibility of further issues, etc. once he comes out of the coma, we'll know more...doesnt look good right now., so please toss one up if you think about it...thanks.

UPDATE.....

He's doing alot better...

thank you God.

life lessons

I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jack
asses.

I've learned that whatever hits the fan will not be evenly
distributed.

I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are
more screwed up than you think.

I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I rather enjoy it.

I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are
celebrities.

I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural
stupidity.

I've learned that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.

RANDOM THOUGHTS FROM PATRICK VOL. ...?

dirkb: now 57.3% more obnoxious than before.
Crappulalives: *according to survey of 200 undecided american voters"

Gotta love the St. Francis quotes!

Above all the grace and the gifts that Christ gives to his beloved is that of overcoming self.

For it is in giving that we receive.

I have been all things unholy. If God can work through me, he can work through anyone.

If a superior give any order to one who is under him which is against that man's conscience, although he do not obey it yet he shall not be dismissed.

If God can work through me, he can work through anyone.

If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching.

It is not fitting, when one is in God's service, to have a gloomy face or a chilling look.

Lord, grant that I might not so much seek to be loved as to love.

No one is to be called an enemy, all are your benefactors, and no one does you harm. You have no enemy except yourselves.

Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

Where there is injury let me sow pardon.

While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.
